"Millikan Students Save Cars, Homes
in Fire"
"STUDENTS PUSHED CARS TO SAFETY, BATTLED
FLAMES IN FAST- MOVING GRASS FIRE"
"Before fire equipment reached the scene, the students
borrowed shovels and garden hoses to beat the flames threatening
garages and fences and cut a fire-break through the brush. Other
students used school fire hoses to combat the flames."
"The students smashed car windows with their bare hands
to release hand brakes on a dozen parked cars."

Both photos were published in the Long Beach Press Telegram for
which I was paid the princely sum of $5 (and I still decided
to be a photographer).
